Abilene, TX – Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-20 Near Elmdale Exit, One Injured

Abilene, TX (September 25, 2024) – A serious multi-vehicle collision occurred on September 25th along I-20, near mile marker 293, near the Elmdale exit. Two 18-wheelers and two passenger vehicles were involved in this crash, resulting in at least one injury. According to officials, the accident occurred when a blue 18-wheeler, traveling westbound, suffered a tire blowout. This caused the truck to veer across the center median while dragging a cable behind it. The driver of a red 18-wheeler, heading eastbound, swerved into the median to avoid the oncoming truck. Unfortunately, two other vehicles, a pickup truck, and a smaller car, were caught in the incident. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) quickly arrived at the scene and redirected traffic onto nearby service roads to facilitate the investigation and cleanup efforts. One individual was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Thankfully, their injuries are not considered critical. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
