Arlington, TX – Fatal Wreck Between Car and 18-Wheeler on I-20/S. Cooper St
Arlington, TX (January 4, 2025) – Early Saturday morning, January 3, a deadly crash involving a Hyundai Elantra and an 18-wheeler occurred on the eastbound lanes of I-20 near S. Cooper Street, leaving one person dead. Authorities say the collision happened shortly after 2 a.m. when the Hyundai, traveling at high speeds, rear-ended the 18-wheeler.
The impact caused the car to burst into flames, and by the time police arrived, it was fully engulfed. The Arlington Fire Department extinguished the blaze and discovered the driver’s body inside the vehicle. Tragically, they were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was unharmed. The identity of the Hyundai driver has not been confirmed, and investigators are working with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the victim. Police are also continuing to investigate the exact cause of the crash.
