Atlanta, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Crash on I-20/Riverside Pkwy

Atlanta, GA (April 11, 2025) – A deadly multi-vehicle pedestrian accident occurred early Friday morning, April 11, along the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Riverside Parkway in Cobb County. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the incident happened just after 5:00 a.m. when 44-year-old Albert Lewis of Stockbridge crashed his 2004 Acura TSX on the eastbound side of I-20. Investigators say Lewis struck a guardrail and a concrete bridge support column before stopping on the left shoulder. For unknown reasons, Lewis exited his vehicle and ran across the interstate. As he attempted to cross into westbound lanes, Lewis was hit by a 2018 Nissan Versa. The impact threw him into the path of several other vehicles, including a tractor-trailer.

In total, five vehicles were involved in striking the pedestrian. Cobb County Police confirmed that Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner’s Office. Miraculously, no other individuals were injured during the incident. Cobb County Police continue to investigate why Lewis left his vehicle and entered traffic.
