Cleburne Co., AL – Birmingham Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-20
Cleburne County, AL (May 1, 2025) – A Birmingham man tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on I-20 on Wednesday, April 30, in Cleburne County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). Authorities identified the victim as 38-year-old Demetrius J. McGhee. He was driving a 2008 Ford Econoline van when it collided with a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer. The impact of the crash left McGhee with fatal injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not released information on whether the driver of the Kenworth truck sustained any injuries. ALEA troopers responded quickly to secure the scene, assess damages, and begin an investigation into the cause of the crash. It is currently unclear what factors contributed to the collision, and investigators are working to determine whether speed, fatigue, or mechanical failure played a role.
