Columbia, SC – Fatal Wreck on I-20 at MM 70 Claims Two Lives
Columbia, SC (September 24, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 on September 22 resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left another person injured. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Gary Miller, the crash took place around 3:30 a.m. near mile marker 70, close to the junctions with U.S. 321/Fairfield Road and U.S. 21/North Main Street. The incident involved three vehicles: a 2004 Mercedes-Benz, a 2009 Honda sedan, and a Dodge sedan. All three vehicles were traveling eastbound when they collided, though the cause of the accident remains under investigation. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz and one occupant from the Honda sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. A third individual was injured and transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Authorities are currently investigating the sequence of events that led to the crash.
