DeKalb County, GA – Fatal Head-On Collision on I-20 near Wesley Chapel Rd Claims Life of One Victim

DeKalb County, GA (August 15, 2023) – Tragedy struck early Wednesday morning, August 16th, in DeKalb County as a wrong-way driver caused a fatal head-on collision on I-20 westbound, near Wesley Chapel Road.

Authorities reported that the collision occurred around 3:20 a.m. The details surrounding the incident are limited at this time, but preliminary information suggests that a driver traveling in the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes collided with another vehicle in the westbound lanes.

Both drivers were quickly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, the driver of the second vehicle succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The identities of both drivers have not been released by officials.

The DeKalb County police are actively investigating the circumstances leading up to this tragic collision. Charges related to the accident are pending as the investigation unfolds.
