Heflin, AL – One Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on I-20 Near MM 196
Heflin, AL (April 14, 2025) – A deadly two-vehicle collision along Interstate 20 in Cleburne County claimed the life of a Georgia man on Sunday afternoon, April 13. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division, the crash happened around 4:40 p.m. near mile marker 196, about three miles west of Heflin. Authorities reported that 58-year-old Hollis L. Stewart of Jonesboro, GA, was behind the wheel of a 2013 Temsa TS35 passenger coach when the vehicle collided with a 2019 Peterbilt truck. 69-year-old Danny C. Murphy of Leighton drove the truck.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the impact. Sadly, Stewart, who was the sole occupant of the passenger coach, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Murphy’s condition was not immediately released, and it remains unclear whether he sustained any injuries. Authorities have not shared what may have led to the crash, and investigations remain ongoing.
