Howard County, TX – Fatal Collision on I-20 Near MM 188 Claims Life of Big Spring Man

Howard County, TX  (June 27, 2023) – A 69-year-old Big Spring man lost his life in a fatal collision on Interstate 20 in Howard County, as reported by the Department of Public Safety. The tragic incident occurred at around 5:47 p.m. on Monday, approximately one mile west of Coahoma.

According to DPS, Carlos Rodriguez’s 2012 Buick Enclave had become disabled in the eastbound outside lane of I-20 near mile marker 188. The disabling occurred due to a prior crash where Rodriguez’s vehicle struck the center median cable. Unfortunately, a 2017 Dodge Ram traveling eastbound in the same lane collided with Rodriguez’s immobile car from behind.

Regrettably, Carlos Rodriguez was pronounced deceased at Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring.

State troopers are currently investigating the underlying cause of the crash.
