Martin Co., TX – Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on I-20/ MM 158 Claims One Life

Martin County, TX (December 14, 2025) – A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Saturday, December 13, on Interstate 20 in Martin County, leaving one man dead. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 5:00 a.m. near mile marker 158. Authorities said a westbound Chrysler 300 struck the rear of a semi-truck that was traveling in the same outside lane.

The impact caused severe damage to the passenger vehicle. The Chrysler’s driver, identified as 45-year-old Agustin Ruiz of Big Spring, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators confirmed he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The semi-truck driver was not injured and remained at the scene. DPS stated the Chrysler failed to control its speed for reasons still under investigation. Traffic was impacted while troopers documented evidence and cleared debris from the roadway. Officials continue to examine all contributing factors.
