Richland County, S.C. – Fatal Motorcycle Crash on I-20 near Columbia Claims Life, Nissan Driver Injured

Richland County, SC (August 25, 2023) – A tragic accident in Richland County resulted in the death of a motorcyclist and injured a Nissan driver, as reported by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at around 7:10 p.m. on August 22nd along the eastbound lanes of I-20, roughly 10 miles away from Columbia.

According to officials, a 2016 Nissan Versa was legally stationary in the median of the interstate when a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle, traveling in the eastbound direction, collided with the rear of the Nissan.

Tragically, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services also attended to the driver of the Nissan, who sustained injuries in the collision. The driver was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this collision.
