Stonecrest, GA – Fatal Crash on I-20 WB Leaves Child Dead, Several Injured
Stonecrest, GA (February 24, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 westbound in DeKalb County early Monday, February 24, left an 11-year-old girl dead and seven others injured. The accident occurred near Turner Hill Road around 1:46 a.m., prompting a major emergency response. Officials reported that at least four vehicles were involved, with two juveniles ejected from one.
The DeKalb County Medical Examiner identified the deceased as 11-year-old Nevaeh Govan. A 9-year-old and a man sustained critical injuries, while three adults had moderate injuries. Two adults were trapped in their vehicles and had to be rescued before being hospitalized. Authorities report the crash began when an SUV hit the median wall and stopped perpendicular to traffic. Another car struck it, spinning it into oncoming lanes, where it was hit again. GDOT confirmed four vehicles were involved, while DeKalb County Fire noted six were disabled at the scene. The crash caused hours-long lane closures as investigators worked to determine what led to the tragedy. The investigation is ongoing.
