Abilene, TX – Fatal Collision on I-20/Exit 292A Claims One Life

Abilene, TX (September 11, 2025) – A fatal crash on I-20 near Exit 292A in Abilene claimed the life of a Weatherford man on Wednesday, September 10. According to Abilene police, 41-year-old Bryan Newsom was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when his sedan collided with the rear of a box truck. The impact pushed the truck a significant distance before both vehicles came to a stop. Newsom was trapped inside his sedan, and despite the quick response from police and fire crews, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the box truck was evaluated on-site and did not report serious injuries.

Investigators believe speed played a major role in the crash, though the full cause remains under review. Crews worked for several hours to remove debris and clear the affected lanes of traffic.
