Colorado City, TX – Two-Vehicle Crash on I-20/MP 221 Claims One Life

Colorado City, TX (December 4, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in Mitchell County claimed the life of a 61-year-old Louisiana man late Wednesday, December 3. The collision occurred around 9:05 p.m. near milepost 221. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver of a 2024 Chevrolet 1500 pickup, identified as James B. Creighton of Many, Louisiana, attempted to brake and maneuver around the stopped vehicles ahead but was unable to stop in time.

His truck collided with the towed trailer of a Volvo truck-tractor that was positioned in traffic at the time of the incident. DPS stated that Creighton was wearing a seatbelt, but he suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Volvo truck, towing a 2018 Great Dane semi-trailer, was being operated by a 32-year-old man from Grand Prairie with a 51-year-old passenger from Fort Worth. Both individuals were properly restrained and sustained no injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash to determine all contributing factors.
