Columbia, SC – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-20 at Exit 73 Results in Injuries

Columbia, SC (January 8, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash resulting in injuries was reported Thursday, January 8, on I-20 eastbound at the I-DeQuincey Newman Freeway (SC-277), Exit 73, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.  South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene and confirmed that multiple vehicles were involved in the collision.

Authorities confirmed that injuries were sustained following the crash, with the injured receiving medical assistance at the scene. No word on whether the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for further evaluation. The number of vehicles involved and the severity of injuries have not yet been released.

Traffic was impacted as troopers worked to investigate the crash and clear the roadway. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
