Grand Prairie, TX (October 18, 2025) – A massive vehicle fire involving an 18-wheeler shut down all westbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Carrier Parkway on October 16, disrupting rush-hour traffic across Grand Prairie.
The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m., when firefighters responded to a fully engulfed tractor-trailer on the westbound side of the interstate. Flames from the burning semi reportedly reached 20 feet high, creating heavy smoke and hazardous conditions.
Crews worked quickly to contain and extinguish the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby vehicles or roadside structures. All westbound traffic was diverted onto the service road as responders managed the scene.
Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the fire. The condition of the truck driver and the number of vehicles involved remain under investigation. Motorists were urged to avoid the area and expect significant delays throughout the morning.
