Kaufman Co., TX – 5 Dead, Several Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-20/Terrell
Kaufman County, TX (June 28, 2025) – A catastrophic collision involving multiple vehicles claimed the lives of five individuals and left several others injured on Saturday afternoon, June 28, along westbound Interstate 20 near Hiram Road, just outside Terrell. The deadly accident occurred around 2:40 p.m. when traffic had significantly slowed in the area. According to officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver of an 18-wheeler failed to slow down in time and plowed into several vehicles ahead, triggering a chain reaction crash that involved three semi-trucks and four passenger vehicles.
First responders from Kaufman County and DPS troopers arrived at the scene within minutes. Several victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while others sustained a range of injuries. At least one individual was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Other injured individuals received on-site medical care or were transported to medical facilities in the region. The names of the victims have not yet been released as officials work to notify their families. The investigation remains ongoing.
